Limerick College of Further Education (LCFE) is now a major player in the educational landscape of the Mid-West Region. It specialises mainly at Levels 5 and 6 of the National Framework of Qualifications and offers a wide range of quality-assured programmes in various disciplines.
The majority of our programmes are validated by FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council). FETAC was established in 2001, with the objective of making and promoting awards, validating programmes, monitoring and assuring the quality of programmes and determining standards.
The College has grown significantly over the last number of years. Last year we registered more than 1,200 full-time learners consisting of over 40 different nationalities, varying in age from 17 to over 60. We also enrolled about 2,500 learners on our evening programmes. These numbers are substantial by any standard and the demand for places in our College far exceeds the supply of places available year on year.
LCFE offers a vast array of programmes in several disciplines and the College supports its teaching and learning with state-of-the-art equipment, reflecting industry standards and local industry needs. However, our greatest asset and key to our success is our staff. They are dedicated, professional and committed to the learners who enrol with us.
We have set out an ambitious strategy for LCFE, whereby we will continue to strive for excellence in our teaching and learning. We will drive ahead with new programmes and invest in new facilities and resources in order to give all our learners the best academic and social experience possible.
We are forging new partnerships with key stakeholders such as examination bodies, employers, Institutes of Technology and Universities. Above all, we are advocates of Further Education and Lifelong Learning and passionately believe in it. We are convinced that LCFE has a major role to play (now more than ever) in the education and training of the people of this region.
I invite you to view the information on this site and visit the College on our Open Day, or subsequently, to see for yourself our facilities and resources and talk to our teachers. Whatever your aspirations or background, I am sure there is a place for you at LCFE.
