LCFE Morning Courses

LCFE offers a number of Mornings Only courses under the School of Adult & Continuing Education. These courses are attractive to those who cannot sacrifice their afternoons, for whatever reason, yet want to obtain a full FETAC Major Award. Participants are usually adult learners i.e. those over 23 years.

For many years the College has been providing a wide range of top quality further education courses for adults and school leavers.  The courses are designed to prepare learners for employment and Third Level education in an adult-friendly environment.  Mature learners who wish to develop new skills are especially welcome.

More and more people are seeing the advantages of up-skilling and returning to study.  The value of education should not be underestimated.  When the country is back on the up, having a qualification to support your experience will stand to you.  Education is about empowering oneself and making a conscious decision to improve knowledge and skills. Are you interested in returning to education and realising your dreams?  Limerick College of Further Education (LCFE) may have a course to suit you.  LCFE has a diverse learner body and strongly encourages applications from mature learners (aged 23 years, or above, in January 1 in the year of entry).

LCFE welcomes the diversity which Mature Learners bring to the College community in terms of background, educational attainment, previous work experience and motivation to study.  Over the years LCFE has been successful in recruiting mature learners to its wide range of courses, its provision of alternative access routes to Third Level education, as well as the support systems tailored to mature learners at the College.

GENERAL INFORMATION

As NDP-funded courses, there are no tuition fees. Learners, however, are liable for registration and examination fees. Additionally, learners are expected to supply prescribed class and study materials.

Means-tested maintenance grants are also available to qualifying learners. The administration of these grants was handled by your local Vocational Education Committee up to the 2011/12 academic year. Please note, however, that Vocational Education Committees will no longer be assessing new applications for Third Level/PLC Grants for the 2012/13 academic year. Learners who are currently in receipt of a grant from their local VEC and who are progressing to the next year of the same course will continue to be assessed and paid by that VEC.
