Course Overview

This programme leads to an internationally-recognised qualification in Holistic Therapies. The programme consists of intensive practical and theoretical training in the various aspects of the profession. Learners are trained in a state-of-the-art salon.

Entry Requirements

• Applicants must have passed their Leaving Certificate and must have studied either Biology or Home Economics.

• Mature applicants (over 23) will be considered on the basis of experience & overall demonstrable ability.

Places on the course are limited and will be allocated on the basis of a personal interview.

• Body Massage
• Nutrition
• Indian Head Massage
• Reflexology
• Sports Therapy
• Aromatherapy
• Thermal Auricular Therapy
• Sports & Fitness
• Hot Stone Therapy
• Customer Service
• Work Experience^*

^*Work experience is a mandatory part of the course. Learners are required to undertake a minimum of 10 days work experience which helps to consolidate and further develop their skills, as well as gaining an understanding of the workplace.

Award

ITEC and CIBTAC – Diplomas in Holistic Therapy
FETAC Level 5 Certificates (Learners may take a combination of these Awards)

Progression/Employment Opportunities

Beauty Salons, Health Clinics, Spas, Theatre, Film, Cruise Liners or self employment in own salon.

Fees

As an NDP-funded programme, there are no tuition fees. Learners, however, are liable for registration and examination fees. Additionally, learners are expected to supply prescribed class and study materials.

Means-tested maintenance grants are available.
