Course Overview

This programme is designed for those who wish to obtain a nationally and internationally-recognised qualification in Hairdressing and Cosmetic Studies. Training is carried out in a newly - equipped salon, designed to simulate an actual Salon.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must have completed the Leaving Certificate or LCA.

  • Holders of a Fetac Level 4 Award are also eligible to apply.

  • Mature students (over 23) may be exempt from the above academic requirements.

Places on the course are very limited.

*The City & Guilds programme may not be offered.

**Holders of this Diploma may add credits to their Diploma afterwards, thus buiding on it to a higher level, which has worldwide recognition.

Progression/Employment Opportunities

  • Those who successfully complete the programme are qualified to enter the industry as Improvers or Senior Improvers.

  • The IST qualification, combined with four years’ relevant industrial experience, is a recognised Hairdressing teaching qualification.

  • Institutes of Technology and other Colleges around the country may be offering opportunities for further studies. Please check with the individual Admissions Offices of any institution you are interested in attending or access:

Fees

As an NDP-funded programme, there are no tuition fees. Learners, however, are liable for registration and examination fees. Additionally, learners are expected to supply prescribed class and study materials.

Means-tested maintenance grants are available.
