Course Overview

This programme is designed to allow participants to prepare an Advanced Portfolio. This programme includes learners’ participation in an end-of-year exhibition.

Entry Requirements

• Applicants must hold a FETAC Level 5 Award in the Art/Design area.

• Mature learners (over 23) or, persons displaying an ability in this area, may be exempt from these academic requirements.

Learners are selected on the basis of a personal interview and a selection of their work which must be presented at this Session.

Progression/Employment Opportunities

• This programme includes learners’ participation in an end-of-year exhibition at a city gallery.

• Learners pursuing further studies in Art & Design are assisted in the preparation of their (Advanced) portfolios. Holders of this qualification may apply for entry to the second year of the Level 8 Degree in the NCAD (by direct application to the NCAD, not through the CAO).

• Institutes of Technology and other Colleges around the country may be offering opportunities for further studies. Please check with the individual Admissions Offices of any institution you are interested in attending or access:

Fees

As an NDP-funded programme, there are no tuition fees. Learners, however, are liable for registration and examination fees. Additionally, learners are expected to supply prescribed class and study materials.

Means-tested maintenance grants are available.
