This course is for those who wish to learn how to catch fish with a rod and fly.   It is suitable for those who want to discover how to make their own trout and salmon flies and how to catch fish with them.

  • Choosing materials
  • Where and how to catch fish
  • Fishing Seasons
  • Learn about open waters, permits and state licenses
  • Sourcing materials, making frames and maintaining riverbanks while fishing
  • Discover the different types of trout and salmon flies and the different type of fly lines –floating lines, sinking lines, shooting heads, spey lines
  • Maintaining rod and lines
  • Types of knots used in fishing and basic fly casting skills
  • River safety – life jacket, care with hooks, unfamiliar waters, wading sticks etc.
