This course is suitable for individuals with a general curiosity about philosophical thought and argument. It also aims to give the individual an understanding of how these various philosophical systems influenced periods of western culture, and the impact they had on, religion, science, politics, psychology, sociology, and technology etc.

- Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.
- Neo-Platonism
- Medieval Philosophy (inc. Saint Augustine, Thomas Aquinas etc.)
- The Renaissance and Rene Descartes
- Spinoza and Leibnitz
- The Enlightenment (Locke, Hume, Berkley, Rousseau, John Stuart Mill etc.)
- Immanuel Kant and the critique of Pure of Reason
- Post Kantian Philosophy (Fichte, Schelling, Schlegel and the Romantic Movement.)
- Hegel and Absolute Idealism
- Marx and Marxism
