This course is aimed at beginner gardeners, who wish to learn how to grow their own food or expand on what they already know.

Course Description

  • Surveying and assessing your garden, microclimate and soil.
  • Tools and equipment.
  • The gardener's calender, keeping a gardeners diary.
  • Designing a vegetable plot, the principals of crop rotation.
  • Ground preparation, raised beds and containers.
  • Soil structure and fertility, compost, mulches and weed control.
  • Choosing what to grow, seed selection, plant propagation.
  • Common garden vegetables, the fruit garden, herbs, great salads and edible flowers.
