This course is suitable for anyone who

would like the opportunity to undertake

leaving cert maths ordinary level . It is for any person who never did

Leaving Cert maths and wish they had,

or those who would enjoy the pleasure

of doing it. For other learners it will

provide them with the opportunity

to improve their leaving certificate

results and to give them the maturity

to proceed with confidence to higher

education. It is especially suitable

for LCFE full time learners who need

leaving cert maths to progress on to the

programme of their chosen career path

NOT E: Learners undertaking online

courses must have basic IT skills and

have access to the necessary ICT

equipment, software and Broadband

capability to enable them to undertake

an online course.

Programme Description

The leaving cert maths syllabus

comprises of 5 strands:

• Statistics and Probability

• Geometry and Trigonometry

• Number

• Algebra

• Functions

The strand structure does not imply

each topic will be covered individually

but rather where appropriate

connections will be made within and

across the strands and with other areas

of learning. Learners will also undertake

a pre-leaving certificate examination in

early 2018.


• It is advised that learners should have

at least a standard at junior/inter/

group cert level or equivalent before

joining the programme.

• Learners will have to register to do the

exam with the state exam commission

and pay the applicable fee.
