Following the success of last year’s initiative, LCFE College Experience Week, 11 students and their teachers from Colaiste na Trocaire attended LCFE for the week 8-12 February.
This gave the students from Colaiste na Trocaire the opportunity to experience college life and for our Heads of Departments to meet with perspective students and give an overview of their department and answer any questions that may arise.
The Teaching & Learning Team at LCFE launched its Spring Study Skills Pack for learners which is available on the College Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It includes a set of presentation slides and a workbook,, which is also available in hard copy. The publication of this resource was timely as students returned from Work Experience. This resource can be used independently or in the form of a presentation. It contains many useful guidelines and tips for Further Education learners and it is hoped will be of great benefit as our students face into their end of year assignments and examinations.
The LCFE College Gaelic Football Team played valiantly against UCC earlier this month in the Munster Junior Quarter Final, however they lost out to a stronger team on the day.
The LCFE Photography Department annual Field Trip also took place over the past few week, with students and teachers travelling to Poland. Some great photos have come back.
LCFE would also like to congratulate past Advanced Media Production (Radio) student, Cian Kearns who has recently produced a radio documentary about the Ebola Crises in Liberia for both Clare FM and Limerick’s Live 95fm. Cian also published an article in The Irish Times on the subject. Cian was successful recipient of the Simon Cumbers Media Fund. Check out Cian’s work on www.clare.fm/podcasts/sierra-leone-report
